We transformed a heavy, dated Tuscan kitchen into a refined kitchen built around one long marble island. The original kitchen carried honey-stained cabinetry, patterned granite counters, and an ornate wrought iron chandelier that no longer matched the rest of the home. We rebuilt the entire kitchen with book-matched calacatta marble, two-tone cabinetry, and warm metals, designed and built by the same in-house team. The honey-stained cabinetry, patterned granite counters, and ornate wrought iron chandelier gave way to a refined transitional kitchen. Greige painted shaker perimeter cabinets pair with a warm oak paneled tall-cabinet wall for the integrated refrigerator and wine refrigerator. Book-matched calacatta slab countertops run the length of the island and reappear on the range wall as a dramatic full-height backsplash. Iron-and-seedy-glass drum chandeliers and lantern pendants hang along the length of the room, and black hardware ties the palette together. The travertine floors were kept in place at the family's request; they run throughout the home, and every material selection in the new kitchen was chosen to work with them.
One long book-matched calacatta marble island runs the length of the kitchen, wide enough for prep, seating, and a built-in Jura espresso coffee bar tucked into one corner.
