“Casa” is Spanish for house — the main home. “Casita” is the diminutive form, meaning “little house.” In Southern Nevada real estate and construction usage, a casita is a small secondary living structure on the same lot as the main home. It is typically detached (freestanding), includes at minimum a sleeping area and bathroom, and often has a full kitchen. When a casita meets Clark County’s ADU criteria (independent kitchen, bathroom, entrance), it is legally classified as an accessory dwelling unit.
