Clavos are decorative iron nail heads that originated in Spanish Colonial architecture. They are typically applied to wooden doors, gates and cabinetry to add old-world texture and visual weight. In the Santa Barbara Estate pool house, clavos appear on the door panels alongside a period-appropriate door pattern designed to look as though it was built a hundred years ago. They are one of several historically inspired details Kingdom & Co. carried from the home’s interior into the outdoor spaces.
