Hiding commercial kitchen equipment behind a traditional design requires building the infrastructure in layers. The inner structure uses stainless steel rated for commercial use, while the outer shell is finished with materials that match the home’s architectural style such as hand-painted tile, natural stone or custom cabinetry. The key is designing the enclosures so that equipment doors, vents and access panels integrate into the decorative facade without visible seams or hardware that reads as commercial. In the Santa Barbara Estate, the outdoor bar is entirely stainless steel on the inside but wrapped in hand-painted tile and old-world detailing on the outside. Kingdom & Co. paired it with chamfered columns, a vine-covered trellis and decorative window details with wood corbels so the commercial kitchen blends seamlessly into the Spanish Colonial character of the home.
