Yes, but it requires specialized planning. Most of the Las Vegas valley has a layer of caliche, a calcium carbonate hardite, beneath the surface. At the Emberlyn Estate in Centennial Hills, the crew hit caliche at approximately four feet while excavating the basement. Removing it required hydraulic rock breakers and careful sequencing to avoid disturbing the surrounding soil and neighboring properties.
